Over break and the past two weeks, our group has worked to gather more information required to begin actually designing our jet injector. This included doing research on the power and springs to get the desired result. We began to create our prototype based on this.

This week we finished up our progress report as well as decided on our project to pursue for the rest of the year. We also made sure all of our sci note was up to date with progress report information as well as continuing to update our website.
This week we took a step back to fix some of the errors we made in our design process. We updated our project scope to meet expectations, researched and came up with more possible design solutions so that we have 11 total, and investigated more design specifications in order to guide design research and rank all the possible solutions.
We have decided on our delivery method to pursue for the year. We are going with the Intramuscular delivery method due to its reliability and onset of absorption. What we have been discussing this week are potential designs for a replaceable cartridge system, a mixing chamber, and how to differentiate our product from the epipen. We're also working on updating the website.
This week we worked on our notebook more to make sure that all the information we had collected was in the workbook. We are still awaiting some data and figures from our client to make our decision on which type of device to pursue. We are currently leaning towards an intranasal spray and a improved IM autoinjector. We should have the data and be able to make our decision by next week, and then we can start more detailed design.
This week, we met with our clients and went over the revisions and comments they made to our preliminary reports. After receiving details a study detailing intranasal epinephrine, we were finally able to see if it was a plausible solution. We were then able to create a matrix ranking each potential solution with the desired needs. We seem to be in agreement with our client that an improved IM autoinjector or a nasal spray are the two best options.
This week we went over our client's revised preliminary report to see what changes we could make for our design process. We are also in the process of discussing further design specifications with our client in order to narrow down possible design solutions.
This week we organized our preliminary presentation, which was given by Vikram. After our presentation, we met to discuss things that went well in our presentation and report and things that needed improvement. We also recently received our preliminary report back from our clients with comments made, which we will review and use to make improvements.
This week, we met with a potential client and were able to persuade them to back us for this year. Dr. Horner, Dr. Kitcharoensakkul, and Dr. Beigelmen were interested in our proposal and helped us out by providing some good advice for where to start. We set meeting times with them to meet the second friday of every month, with the potential for more as necessary. We also finished our preliminary report this week. We researched into patents and possible concepts for preliminary designs.
Team 16 Vikram Arun, Benjamin Katzman, Luke Ziolkowski This week we did a bit of research into the EpiPen to research its ingredients and are looking to borrow one to examine it further, so we can understand what we need in an alternative. We are meeting with our client (Dr. Horner) for the first time today, and hope to accelerate our project with her help.
